What's Involved in a Car Detailing

Having your car detailed means a professional will use special tools to remove dirt and grime both from the outside and the inside with special care in the following areas:

Paint care

Since car paint is delicate, most detailers will spend time on cleaning it, while also taking measures to protect it. A typical three-step process may involve a preliminary wash, followed by a clay bar treatment to remove any contaminants such as dirt, tar, tree sap, industrial fall-out. The last step will be to polish and remove any scratches and swirls before a final application of wax to protect the paint.

Chassis and Wheels

The chassis and undercarriage will be cleaned along with the wheel wells and suspension parts. Splash guards and inner fender liners will have a plastic protectant applied to them, and the tires will also get a protectant after being thoroughly washed.

The Interior

At a minimum, the car's upholstery and carpets should be vacuumed and/or steam cleaned. Additionally, vinyl or plastic trim should be cleaned and dressed, and leather trim cleaned and conditioned.

Lights and Trim

If the headlights and tail lights show signs of oxidation, they will be polished then sealed with a plastic compound. The trim will be addressed as well, with chrome receiving a thorough cleaning, and vinyl and plastic dressed with a protectant that resists fading and cracking.

Think about it, we take the time to have our cars maintained regularly, so why not set aside some time to have it detailed. In addition to giving you a spotless car, it will protect your paint. This level of excellent condition will increase its value, and result in a higher price if you choose to sell it.
